Ok so with all the thoughts popping in and out of my head, I realized that we arrived at the dam. We were advised to fish the inflow and not the dam itself. The road was muddy and we decided not to push our luck, so we stopped at the first avaliable spot. There was plenty of activity in the water and I could feel the excitement growing!!!

Unfortunately someone left their garbage laying around even though a green bin is provided not even 10 meters from where everything was dumped and left. It’s a real pitty!!

So we did what any respectable two young men would do and cleaned up the area before we continued with anything else. So with that out of the way and feeling a bit greener we started with the preparation of our fishing spot.

The rain was creeping closer again. Willem prepared a hair rig with boilies dipped in Banjo, I on the other hand opted for a floatie backed by a marshmallow. Within the first 5 miutes we both had fish on the line, mine unfortunately came loose but Willem steered his skillfully through some of the grass, for now at least I had to play camera man! Willem landed a beauty of a big mouth yellow as the rain started to fall again.

We quickly prepared rigs with the same bait, we had to work fast as a storm was comming from behind and it was comming fast. Still excited we waited in the rain, Willem with his funcky orange sweater and me with my funny-looking-sunny-weather towel.

We decided to park our car close to our rods, just in case the rain comes pouring down in buckets. We completely forgot about the earth worms that was under the car being kept dry. Needless to say Willem had a little accident and killed a few of them (much like that computer game – WORMS. haha).

5 minutes later a thunder storm broke out and we had to spend the rest of the night in the car.

The next morning we had to pack up and leave for home, leaving behind a potential great day of fishing, cursing the wheather and thinking of what might have been. At least we avoided a blank for the weekend!
