The Helicopter/Heli rig is an effective long range, anti tangle rig used at dams with a lot of grass,muddy or silty bottoms. So called because of the rotating action of the hook link attached to the main line when casting.

Heli Rig

You will need the following components in order to build this rig:

1. A Lead weight
2. Three swivels
3. A tail rubber
4. A rubber bead

The image above is self explanatory. Just a few notes:

1. The tail rubber should be pulled over the bottom swivel
2. The hook link should be attached to the rotating middle swivel

In another variance of this rig the rotating middel swivel can be positioned between 2 fixed rubber beads in order to position the hook link to an approriate height.

Helicopter/Heli rigs are sold in ready to assemble packages that is alot easier but alot more expensive.
