This page will serve as a step-by-step guide on how to prepare a basic groundbait mixture used for carp fishing. This simple groundbait recipe is suitable for use at most carp fishing venues and the amount of fish attracted are maximized by the textures and sizes of the particles it consists of. You will need the following ingredients,

1. 1kg – 2kg mielie pips (maize)
2. 1kg – 2kg ready-to-use-just-add-water groundbait such as popcorn

To prepare the groundbait, follow the steps listed below,

1. Soak the mielie pips in water for 24 hours
2. Cook the mielie pips
3. Grind two thirds of the mielie pips
4. Mix everything togheter with water as needed
