There is but a few words that will describe Rietvlei dam accurately. They include BLANK ,BIG FISH,PERSONAL BEST and NOTHING! The dam is challanging to fish and alot of preparation and knowledge is needed to truely make a success of your fishing trip. Fishing is allowed on the Norhtern and Western shores, motor boats however are not allowed.
How to get there
GPS coordinates: 25 52’34.8 S,28 16’47.6 E
From the R21 take the Irene Rietvlei dam off-ramp. Drive in an easterly direction, at the first 4-way stop, turn right towards Olifantsfontein and the St Georges Hotel. Drive for 1,5 km, crossing the Sesmylspruit. On the left is a sign indicating Rietvlei Nature Reserve, turn left and follow the road up the hill to the main gate.
